Steeples, Gates, and Window Boxes -- Charleston Part Three
I can hardly believe this is the last week of May; time just flies by faster and faster every year! So much has been happening around here, making it difficult for me to blog. If I find time to write, edit, and publish a post, I don't seem to have time to visit others like I need to and want to. If I pay a lot of visits and leave comments, there's no time left to write a post. I'm going to have to find a better more efficient way of doing this.

Memorial Day
"Decoration Day is the most beautiful of our national holidays...The grim cannon have turned into palm branches, and the shell and shrapnel into peach blossoms."~Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Charleston, Part Two
Continuing with our tour of Charleston, I'm sharing the rest of the interior of the Heyward-Washington House. I wanted to go ahead and do that before I get busy here with other things and too much time passes. You can see the first part of the house Here. In this post, I'm focusing on the rooms on the second floor of the house.
I'm so excited to show you the rooms on this floor; there were two bedrooms and two withdrawing (or as we are used to saying) drawing rooms. The bedrooms were on the back of the house, and I'll share those first.

Charleston, South Carolina
I was so happy to be able to spend almost three full days in Charleston this past week. You see, Charleston is the city where we spent our honeymoon 27 years ago today. We were married on the 23rd, and we arrived in Charleston on the 24th of May, 1987. At the time, we had said we'd try to return for our tenth anniversary, but as the saying goes, "Life happens;" so 27 years later, we finally made it back to Charleston. It was a quick, but wonderful trip.

What Does Summer Mean to You?
Blazing hot temperatures? High humidity? Lots of yard work and mosquitoes? :) How about going barefoot? Watching the sunset? Eating homemade ice cream?

The Stars and Stripes always say summertime to me.

Our Wedding China
Hi everyone! I have been absent from blogging for about a week and a half. Not only have I not posted, but I haven't had time to visit anyone else's blog either. I always feel like I'm out of the loop when that happens. We've had family things going on and the puppy is still keeping us very busy.
This week I'm participating in Cuisine Kathleen's "Let's Dish" party. Her challenge this month is for us to set a table with wedding china. It can be our wedding china, or the wedding china of a mother or grandmother, etc. I just realized that the challenge was actually to use formal wedding china in an informal arrangement so, Oops, I guess I didn't get that memo. The story of my life these days. :) Anyway, I was glad for the opportunity to set a table with our wedding dishes. Those of you who are regular readers of my blog have seen this china before, but here it is again.

Duncan Update
Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend -- lovely I hope! My sweet friends have been asking how Duncan is doing, so I thought I would show you how much the little whipper-snapper has grown. :)

The Run For The Roses
As usual, it seems, we missed the Kentucky Derby today. Darn. We were both tired, as the sleep schedule hasn't been very good at our house lately. Hubby has a project going at work that has entailed all sorts of late hours, and late-night phone calls and texts from work. So after lunch today, we both took a big nap, and when we awoke, the race was over. One of these days, we'll learn to record it (I hope).

The Lure of a Library
I plan to continue with my posts on books, and I'll be sharing some more of my favorites here at home. I haven't had a chance to do that lately, as a certain little someone has been keeping me extra busy; but today, I want to show you these images of some amazing libraries. I haven't visited these, but I think it would be wonderful to see them in person someday.
