Welcome To A New Year

Hello to you all and Happy 2020!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas at your home.  We certainly did, but boy was it rushed.  Such a short (and fast) time between Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2019.  Whew!

I have been so slow lately; here it is January 7th, the day after Epiphany, and I'm just now getting to share some pictures of our Christmas decor.  If you're a regular visitor here, you know I don't do a lot that's different from year to year because I have such a sentimental attachment to our Christmas things.  However, I do try to change things up a little, just to keep it from getting too humdrum.  If you're sick of seeing Christmas pics, you'll probably want to skip this post.  :D

Making Christmas Memories

First, let me say that I'm not one of those people who likes to rush the season.  Oh, I look forward every year to Spring and Fall, but I never start working on Christmas until November.  I may have to change that and start earlier, seeing that it seems to take me longer and longer to get ready these days.  ;)

I was asked to work with "Paperless Post" in putting together some of my favorite Christmas memories.  Some of you are probably already thinking ahead towards how you'll decorate this year and perhaps starting your shopping and baking.

We love Christmas at our house, and I loved it growing up in my parents' house.  If you can manage not to get weighed down with too much commercialism and not stress out over trying to make everything perfect, it really is a wonderful time of year.

Images of Christmas Past

Alma, who blogs at The Tablescaper, has a wonderful idea for a link party.  Tomorrow, for her weekly Seasonal Sundays party, she's suggested we link our posts from previous Christmases.  I think this is a brilliant idea because we're all busy as bees trying to get ready for this Christmas -- decorating, shopping, wrapping, baking, addressing Christmas cards.  Soooo, I went through my archives and found some things to share from previous Christmases.  Some things were published in posts, but others are just pictures we took, but I never got a chance to do a post on them.  I hope you enjoy!

December Note Card Party

"It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air."~W.T. Ellis

Season's Greetings everyone!  I'm getting into panic mode with finishing our Christmas preparations, but I hate to miss Vee's monthly Note Card Party.  Without further ado, here are my choices for this month -- of course I chose a Christmas theme.

Our Dickens Village

"It is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas when its mighty Founder was a child Himself."~Charles Dickens

I've always wanted to see England at Christmas.  It makes me think of plum pudding with a sprig of holly on top, roasted chestnuts, and those charming old buildings with bow windows and snow decorating the window panes.  I picture centuries old fireplaces with crackling fires, wassailing, and voices with Cockney accents singing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."  In essence, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."
