Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, England

This week I've decided it's time to post another installment of our trip to England in 1999.  Last year, I wrote about London, The Bellows Mill Hotel, and Stratford Upon Avon.  My husband was working on a computer software installation for his company, and I was able to travel to England and Ireland with him in the early spring of 1999.  It was a trip I'll never forget.

The company my husband works for has a  facility here in our town, as well as in Leighton Buzzard, England and Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.  Leighton Buzzard was a cute town; not in the least like the villages in the Cotswolds or the coastal regions.  Still, it had its own brand of charm and unique architecture.

What Kind of Movies Do You Like?

I love movies!  I have for as long as I can remember, and I have to say, I like an eclectic mix of movies.  If asked what my favorite kind of movie is, I would be hard pressed to say.  Here are some of my favorites over the years --

Progress With Duncan

A lovely morning to you all!  I hope to enjoy this pretty day before the nasty weather rolls in again tomorrow.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!  Unfortunately, things aren't looking real green and cheerful around here today.  More dismal weather, filled with gray skies and cold rain.  To be fair though, it rains an awful lot a wee fair bit in Ireland, too.  That's why everything is so lush and green there.  They're not plagued with the hot, humid weather that we get here in the summer, or the frequent periods of drought.

An Irish Table for St. Patrick's Day

I'm into my fourth year of blogging, and this is the year I finally put a St. Paddy's Day tablescape together and actually got it photographed.  Yippee!  Mr. Forest Manor did the photography for me (Thanks Honey) -- I really appreciate the good pictures he takes.

It's A Pup's Life

Does anyone out there besides me miss The Far Side comic strips?  Oh my goodness, Gary Larson was so funny, and his take on animals was just priceless.  :)  All weekend I've been thinking of the piece he did about the man scolding his dog, Ginger.

I would love to show an image of the cartoon, but I'm afraid of getting sued.  Anywho, it's a split picture of  the owner reprimanding his dog.  The first part of the picture is titled "What You Say To Your Dog."  The owner is pointing his finger at his dog and saying, "Okay, Ginger!  I've had it!  You stay out of the garbage!  Understand, Ginger?"  The other half of the picture is titled "What Your Dog Hears" --  same image of the man pointing to his dog, and the little speech bubble says, "blah blah GINGER blah blah blah blah blah blah GINGER blah blah blah."  It's funnier with the picture of course, but maybe you get the general idea.  You can view the actual comic strip Here.  Take out the word Ginger and insert Duncan, and that's been our weekend.  :-D

Brookgreen Gardens, Part Four

Let's do a little armchair traveling, what do you say?  I feel like re-visiting Brookgreen Gardens to enjoy some more flowers and sculpture.  We were last there over Labor Day weekend last September.  I shared some of those photos Here.  We had previously only been to the gardens in early spring, and it was really nice to see them at the end of summer, since the flowers in bloom then were totally different than what we had seen in March.

Old Wives' Tales

You may remember a post I wrote on February 21st about Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway?

We're tired today.  :)  Yesterday was a full day.  The trip to Raeford seemed longer than we'd counted on, but it was a pretty drive there.  We drove through Pinehurst, which is where many of the pro golf tournaments are played -- such a pretty town.  I always enjoy a little day trip, especially when we're going to a spot we're not familiar with.  I know we drove through these towns many years ago on our way to the beach, but we don't take that route anymore so it was like visiting for the first time.

Say "Hello" to Duncan!
