This is my very first blog post -- ever! I'm not sure I had even heard of a blog until I saw "Julie and Julia" last year, and even then, I don't think I was terribly clear on the concept. But last January, I was bored one day, so I started googling some decorating sites and discovered the world of blogland. My husband is an I.T. specialist at work, and he offered many months ago to help me set up my own blog, but I kept putting it off for one reason or another..
My husband and I are recent empty nesters; we just have one son, and he is now a sophomore in college. So, a whole new stage in our lives. We have many and varied interests, some shared, some separate. We will be married 24 years in May of this year; we have had lots of good times and look forward to many more. He is my best friend and soul mate. We are blessed with wonderful parents and siblings, nieces, nephews, and of course our son, who has grown into such a fine young man. We have one pet, a feisty, lovable, always entertaining Scottish Terrier (or Scottish Terrorist as my husband calls him) named MacDuff. He is the second Scottie we have had during our married life and the third that I have had. I guess we're confirmed terrier lovers.
I love almost all animals; I think dogs make the best companions, but I also like cats, and love birdwatching. I love to read; I love books for themselves (I'm not about the Kindle). I think books are beautiful, interesting objects and one can almost never have too many. I worked at a book store for four years (many moons ago) and that's how I met my husband when he came in to buy a book for a friend.
I also love food, as well as cooking and baking, although I don't do as much as I did at one time. I'm trying to get back into the habit. I love flowers and gardening, watching movies, traveling, listening to music and playing the piano, and getting to know interesting new people. And I love to laugh! I love houses, especially old or historic houses. But my big obsession at the moment is decorating -- decorating books, websites, blogs, magazine articles, and just getting ideas from the homes of family and friends.
Well, that's it for my first post. I'm trying to get my blog set up and download pictures so that I can participate in some blog parties next week.
