Happy Fall 2019!

Hello Dear Friends!  Happy Fall to you!

If anyone out there is still looking at my blog, I'm surprised, and thankful.  I ended up taking all of August and most of September off -- somehow just couldn't manage to pull a blog post together.  I've enjoyed reading and spending a lot of time with my family and have taken two very quick trips during that time.  Both trips were places I've been many times before; I took very few pictures and didn't see a need to bore you with more posts.  That's not to say I didn't enjoy going, though.  :)  I also celebrated my birthday in September -- one of those "9" birthdays, and this one precedes the big 60.  😲

I'm quite ready for some cooler weather here.  Last week in Charleston (with my mom and sister) temps. were in the low 90's both days we were there.  Ugh.  We walked and walked, and upon returning to our room, I kept cutting the A/C back(?) to cold, cold settings. I'm afraid I almost froze my mom and sister out.  I came home with a head cold (probably my just desserts).  Anyway, no more travel for 2019, and I'm rather glad.  I was fortunate to do several trips this year, but I'm glad to be home.  Lots to do before the holidays are upon us.

As soon as this head cold is gone, I look forward to getting into the swing of fall.  Hopefully, it will have cooled off more around here by then.

Do you decorate your home for the fall season?  Have you started yet?  One thing I plan to return to very shortly is cooking a lot more.

Apple Pudding Cake - 2016

Many years ago (it feels like) cooking was really my first love, and I've done far too little of it in recent years.  I adore homemade soups, so this is a great time of the year to be cooking (and baking).

My brain feels a little fuzzy from being sick and from not writing a blog post for about two months.  It's surprising what a difference a short time away makes.  I hope to be more chipper in my next post so that I may at least keep you awake.  😉  Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have a lovely last week of September.

  1. Still reading! I am sorry that you are under the weather. I know what you mean about finding it difficult to write a blog post after being away for a bit. My blog fodder isn’t what it used to be. Yours is doing all right. You have me very interested in the apple pudding cake. Oh, and you’re just a young’un. My sister and family are hanging out in Colonial Williamsburg this week. I was invited along, but felt I’d better hang closer to home. Maybe next time...

  4. Sorry about your cold. Charleston always seems so, so hot in the summer. Might be the humidity. Still love it there. I wonder if the photo of your tree is from another year, because it seems early to have the trees so beautifully turned in color. But you are a bit further north than us! I too am looking forward to making soup again! My favorite!

  5. I hope you soon feel better, Denise. The South gets so very hot in the summer. I hope autumn is much cooler very soon. Not much decorating going on here - but lots of tawny coloured hydrangeas are drying in vases.

  6. First to answer your question......Yes, I decorate for Fall as it is one of my favorite times of the year, and yes, I have already started decorating, even though here in Texas it's still 90 degree weather. I am so ready for Fall. Sometimes time away from something can be refreshing. Looking forward to your next blog post.
