The breeder sent these pictures on Monday. She took the pups outside for the first time on Sunday, and she said they had such a blast. They played with pine cones and learned to go up and down steps. She wrote that true to life, the girls managed to do everything first, while the boys were busy exploring their new world. :)

"Going To The Dogs"
It seems that things around here have just gone to the dogs. Anyone reading my blog over the past month will probably get that impression. I do apologize for showing puppy pictures so often, but I couldn't resist showing you this last group of pics. We'll be traveling for about two hours on Saturday to pick up our new little canine friend, and I guess that's the last time he'll get to be with his litter mates. I hope he won't miss them too much.

A French Catholic Missel
Several years ago, my in-laws traveled to France, and when they returned, my mother-in-law gave me a little book as a memento. Actually, there were two books, and she let me choose which one I wanted. I was instantly taken with this one...

It's Monday Again
Good morning and Happy Monday to you! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Ours was very nice with gorgeous, spring-like weather, but I understand the polar vortex may not be finished with us yet. Sigh.
Here are a few pictures to (hopefully) put a smile on your face. :)

Mabry Mill On The Blueridge Parkway
I woke up to a storm this morning -- not a snowstorm, but a thunderstorm. I'm thinking I've heard an old wives' tale about a thunderstorm in winter, meaning snow soon to follow. I really hope that's not the case. It's dismal and dreary here, so I felt the need for a lighthearted post today.
Back in November of last year, hubby and I drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and drove all the way into Virginia. We stopped at Mabry Mill to stretch our legs and take some pictures. My husband took all the pictures in today's post.

Valentine's Day Tablescape
**Note: I just realized I put the knives and forks on the wrong side of the plate! This calls for another head slap!! I was in such a rush to get this table set up last night for pictures, I didn't even notice I'd done this. I promise I do know where they're supposed to go. I don't know where my brain was last night. It didn't help that I was trying to watch the figure skating competition in the Olympics at the same time that I was doing the table. I'm chalking this one up to another senior moment.
I finally got a chance to set a pretty table in the dining room. Unfortunately, we've kind of been using our dining room as a storage area for the past year and a half. Not cool. Now it's back to being what it's supposed to be, and that makes me happy.

The Big Chill
I feel kind of like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz -- "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." Wow, what a snowstorm! It just stopped snowing here about an hour ago, so we had 24 straight hours of snow, at times mixed with sleet.
I can't pretend I didn't enjoy it -- I've been longing for a pretty snow this year.

Some Observations On a Snowy Day
It looks like an amazing winter wonderland here in our corner of the world. Right now we have about six inches of snow in our little town outside of Winston-Salem, N.C.

A New Kind of Flameless Candle
Have you seen the new flameless candles with the realistic moving wick? Oh wow, I love these! I'm probably the last person to find out about them, since I'm always late to the party; but in case you haven't seen them, let me share with you.

Puppy Update
Hi folks. Thank you so much for your response to my earlier post showing pictures of our new pup! You were all so encouraging and sweet -- I really appreciate it!! I'm still a little nervous because for starters, I really miss MacDuff; and then it's been so long since we had a busy puppy in the house, I hope we can keep up. We are excited, though, and looking forward to his arrival at our home.
The breeder sent us some really cute pictures yesterday, so as promised, I'll share them in order to keep you updated. As of Friday, they were four weeks old, and as the breeder said in the e-mail, "...they're now halfway to your homes." She has put collars on all the puppies in order to more easily distinguish the black females from the black males. :) I think they really look adorable in their plaid collars!
