Liebster Award
My sweet friend, Rose H. of Second Hand Rose, in the U.K., has given me the Liebster Award. Thank you kindly, Rose. Rose has such a cute blog; she loves to thrift shop, like most of us here in Blog land. She finds the most wonderful bargains in Staffordshire, England, where she lives. Please stop by and visit Rose; you'll be glad you did.
I'm supposed to tell you eleven things that you may not know about me, so here goes.
1. I love history and attended a Renaissance Fair in North Carolina several years ago (kind of nerdy, I know).
2. Books are one of my very favorite things in life, and I love to read and collect them.
3. I worked four years at a bookstore during my twenties. The pay and the hours were not so good, but it was a great experience for me.
4. I met my husband at said bookstore. :)
5. Our current home was hit by a tornado during our second year of living here. We had to move out of it for eight weeks while it was being repaired. Before that happened, I was NEVER afraid of storms, but now they make me a tad nervous (especially when there's a tornado warning issued).
6. Scottish Terriers are my favorite dogs. I have had three during the course of my lifetime.
7. I took four years of French in school, but don't remember a lot of it.
8. I loved to play the piano for many years when I was growing up. I still love it, but am VERY out of practice.
9. My son hates for me to play the piano. My stopping and starting over (hence the out-of-practice thing) drives him crazy. :)
10. I'm seriously afraid of spiders -- a real arachnophobe.
11. I'm a big Lord of the Rings movie fan (not very girlie, I know).
I'm passing this Liebster Award to eleven other bloggers, who like me, have less than 200 followers. I hope you'll take a few minutes to visit their blogs; they all have some neat things to share!

Congrats, Denise. Interesting facts you've shared. I also took high school French but haven't spoken it in all these years so I also don't remember much. ;-) xo
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award, Denise. I am honored. I think if you went to France for awhile your French would kick in. Keep playing on through on your piano. Don't stop at mistakes. xo Jenny
ReplyDeleteI am honored Denise that you would feature my blog for the Liebster Award. I am with you on the tad nervous about the storms. Here in south Alabama we take storms seriously. We also had a tornado destroy our high school and one elementary school and there were six deaths at our high school in 2007. Tropical Storm Isaac is not to be taken lightly. The next four days will be an anxious time because many people will be faced with difficulty. We may not have power so if you do not hear from me that is why. My heart goes out to the people in the New Orleans, Biloxi, and Mobile and Pensacola areas as well as the Panhandle of Florida.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading the 11 things about you!...and so looking forward to actually meeting you at the Southern Bloggers Conference!
ReplyDeleteFunny, my son met his wife at a book store too...the Univ of Fla bookstore!!....
It's fun when people post lists about themselves because I get a closer peek at them. You might be surprised to hear that I'm actually not afraid of spiders. That's one of the very few common phobias that I don't have.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to tell you that I love that previous post about the lodge. It looks just beautiful there! We're going through a personal family thing that has kept me away from the computer lately. Praying that it passes soon or for the peace that passes if it doesn't.
I'm going to try not to lose touch with blog friends while I wait.
Hi Denise~ Fun reading about you and how awful to have your home hit by a tornado! I'm a nervous Nellie if there is a severe thunderstorm/tornado warning ever since Hugo came through Charlotte. I think I'd have to have an underground cellar built to hide in if my home was hit! We had a tornado warning last April at the lake when my husband was out of town. I cowered in the bathtub with the dogs, my kindle, and a flashlight :)
ReplyDeleteWell deserved Denise! I too love books and Scottish Terriers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise, for the Liebster Award. I enjoyed reading the eleven things that you shared about yourself. I am wondering if I could even come up with eleven things. I will have to try brainstorming sometime! We need to become followers of one another. Visit me at Applejack Lane anytime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for passing the award on to me. I love reading interesting and random things about the bloggers I follow. It's a fun way to get to know one another better. I must say, I am envious of your having worked at a bookstore. We don't have one that really close to where I live, so it's never really been an option, but I used to dream of what fun it would have been to work in one. Though I do fear I would have probably spent more than I made.
