First Day of Fall

Hello Dear Readers -- I'm so glad you're here!  It's the first (official) day of fall -- the most glorious season of the year!  I've been reading your blog posts this morning, and it seems that everyone is happy to see fall arrive.  In addition to the cooler air and blue skies, I love all the harvest celebrations.  There was an Apple Fest at a nearby community over the weekend, but I didn't get a chance to go.  It sounded like a lot of fun -- apples for sale and apple pies, too.  I need to put this on my calendar for next year.  ;)

Two weekends ago, we took some pictures along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina; those of you who read here regularly know that's one of our favorite things to do.  The trees hadn't really started turning yet, but we still found some nice color here and there.

I've become quite fascinated with these colorful thistle flowers.

I think their blooms are beautiful, but not their prickly barbs.  I found out firsthand last year just how sharp those thorns are.

Goldenrod is blooming profusely this time of year.

Mr. Duncan enjoyed the outing as much as we did.  :-D

Happy Fall Y'all!!!  Thank you for visiting me -- your comments are so welcome and encouraging!  I hope you have a great day.  :)

Blessings,

Denise

  11. Oh look at sweet Duncan. He is quite a handsome lad. I hope that he is settling down. Our pups are nearly two years old now, so they should be showing some maturity and calming down. Boone is beginning to listen and gain a small vocabulary. Our last dog seemed to know everything we were talking about. Gorgeous fall photos. Your country side looks green and lush. Here the landscape has turned brown under the burden of heat and no rain. While the mornings and nights are cool and quite pleasant, the days have been quite hot. We need rain, but not until our hay has been bailed. Have a wonderful weekend.
