A Fun Trip to Hendersonville
Hello Friends! Are you having a good week? We left last Wednesday driving to Hendersonville, North Carolina, for a two-day visit. My mom and I started this annual tradition in 2020, and this year, Hal went with us. We all had such a good time. The weather was perfect, and it was a real treat to get away for a change of scenery.
For the fourth year in a row, we stayed at the Charlston Inn, a Bed and Breakfast Inn in historic downtown Hendersonville. It's a lovely old house, and the owners really make guests feel at home there. The day we arrived, we grabbed a quick lunch and then visited the Western North Carolina Air Museum. I wanted to pick something that would really interest Hal, and we all enjoyed seeing these flying machines. Above is a scale replica of the 1902 glider flown by the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. I'll write more on this museum soon.
On Thursday, we had afternoon tea at our favorite tea room, "A Southern Cup." This tea room is really a girly place; Hal was a good sport about going, and he took some really great pictures for me. More on that later, too. He did enjoy the food and tea very much; Kim's afternoon tea is just delicious.
Later that afternoon, we visited the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, which I've been wanting to see since last summer. It was very pretty and well worth a visit, but I would definitely go earlier in the summer next year. We were told that the best time to go is in June. The bridge was only about 30 minutes from our inn, so it made sense to go while we were so close by.
Friday was our day to return home, and on the way, we stopped at an apple orchard just outside of Hendersonville. This is another thing I've been wanting to do for several years. Hendersonville is known for their apples, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this pretty orchard. We bought two bags of apples to bring home, so I'll be baking some goodies over the next several days.
It was good to get home, and now the busy fall season is upon us. We have some fall lawn work to do, and Alex, the man who helps us a few times a year, is coming tomorrow to plug and seed the yard. Now that the temperature is more bearable out, we have some weeding to do. The last thing for this post is to mention that yesterday, I celebrated my 62nd birthday. It was a really nice day, and I'm very thankful to still be having birthdays. 😊 I hope you all have a great week and thanks so much for stopping by here. Your visits and comments are always appreciated! Best wishes,
Aww! Happy Birthday, Denise!! Spring chicken, still...
