First of November

Hello friends!  Happy first day of November!!  We're smack dab in the middle of my favorite time of year, and I can't believe that all of October passed without my writing a single post.  Life has been busy here, and I've been trying to live each day so haven't made time to write about my life lately.  I'm not sure anyone's still interested in reading what I write, but no matter.  I'm still here.  😉  Are you having a nice fall so far?  The foliage has been spectacular here, so I feel sure it has been lovely everywhere else, as well.  Two years in a row of extraordinary fall beauty, and I'm drinking in those colors everywhere we go.

Just last week, we took a walk down the street perpendicular to our house, and on the way back, we got a view of our maple tree that we don't normally see, or just haven't noticed before (that's it in the center  of the picture).  The sun was just at the perfect spot in the sky, and the tree looked like it was on fire.  I zipped back to the house and grabbed my camera, returning to this same spot to take some pictures.

I like the picture above because our maple tree is glowing with color, my neighbor's trees are casting long shadows across the grass, and you can see just a bit of our other neighbors' red tree in the right edge of the picture.  That sunbeam is pretty, too.

This tree has grown quite a bit in the 25 years we've lived here.

We haven't done any traveling this fall, other than another trip to the beach house.  We took my mom with us, and our son met us there for a long weekend.  We had a great time and lovely weather.  At home, I'm reading a new book series based on a blog that I recently subscribed to called "The Good Life France."  The author, Janine Marsh (and her husband) are British ex-pats who moved to the north of France, purchased a tumble-down farmhouse, and spent the next several years repairing and renovating it.  Her website is extensive, including a free, online magazine with gorgeous photos, travel info., good stories, and recipes.  Her books are shown on the sidebar, and I downloaded them onto my Kindle, where I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them.

We also discovered a fun vlog on YouTube called "How to Renovate a Chateau Without Killing Your Partner."  I have so enjoyed watching this in the evenings; it's entertaining and informative, with beautiful photography of the surrounding Normandy countryside.  You can read about the owners, Anna and Phillip, Here.   Below is a sample of one of the episodes, if you're interested in checking it out.

We've also been watching "Get Back," the Beatles documentary.  Our son gave me the DVD set for my birthday because I'd told him how much I'd like to see it.  I'm really enjoying that, too.  What have you been doing lately?  Do you have a favorite YouTube channel or vlog that you enjoy watching?  I'm glad there are other things out there to watch, because regular TV is pretty lousy these days.

I hope you're all doing well and thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful week!!

  1. Oh I love Philip and Anna! Her mil is a piece of work I must say. They've alarmed me some with their recent redirection so I am hoping that it all works out. The first mention intrigues me, too, so I'll check it out.

Glorious autumn foliage for sure! Love the reds! 🍁🍂🍁

  2. Those were beautiful captures of that maple with the sunshine setting the leaves on fire. Happy November to you!
