Top Ten Posts For 2020

Hi folks.  Aren't we glad this difficult and challenging year is drawing to a close?  Obviously, Covid 19 has been the big talking point, but I know many people have had difficulties not related to the virus.  My husband's aunt had cancer and died from a stroke before her treatments started.  One of the bloggers I like to read, Mike, who writes A Bit About Britain, was sick earlier in the year.  Believe it or not, I'm still having lingering effects from the Bell's Palsey I had back in June.  In fact, I've just been online looking at exercises to strengthen my facial muscles, which don't seem to have fully recovered.  And sadly, both of our families know people who have died from Covid 19.  Needless to say, we're all hoping for a better year in 2021!

Out of curiosity, I thought I would look at Google Analytics to see what my most popular posts were this year.  What peaked your interest the most on House at Forest Manor in 2020?  According to Google Analytics, these are your ten favorite posts this year.

In the top two spots were -- Attract More Birds to Your Outdoor Feeder.

I'm actually kind of amazed at how long this post has stayed in my top ten on the blog sidebar; it seems to have been in the most popular posts almost continuously since 2013.  The great thing about this bark butter is that so many of the birds love it, and we got lots of eastern bluebirds when we kept this stocked.  However, we haven't been able to feed the birds for awhile because the racoons were causing too many problems.

In third place was Lenox "Holiday" Tablescape.   I loved this Christmas table, and I'm glad you did, too.

Fourth most viewed post was The Kitchen Eight Years Later.

In fifth place was The Waltons House (Earl Hamner Jr. Homeplace).  We made an impulse decision to stop here in 2017 on our way home from Charlottesville, Virginia.  I thoroughly enjoyed touring this house.  I got the impression it had been lovingly restored and decorated, with much thought given to making it historically accurate.

Next on the list is The Everyday Dishes.

In eighth place is another tablescape, Love Is In The Air.  This was my 2020 Valentine's table, and I really enjoyed putting it together.

Finally, at the Number Ten spot is Ten Years of House at Forest Manor.  I'm just about to finish my tenth year of blogging here.  Wow!  I never imagined I'd stay with it this long.  Your interest and encouragement are a big reason I'm still doing this.  😊

It looks like your favorites this year were mostly to do with house and home -- decorating and setting a pretty table.  I'll continue to write about those things, as well as about books I'm reading, travel, a bit of fashion, and recipes, in the coming year.  I hope you're having a good week so far, and thanks so much for stopping by!!

  2. Since I took a very long break from The Garden Spot, I would imagine that I lost some of my audience. Still I am enjoying your beautiful posts--magazine worthy--better than. May the New Year bring you joy, peace, and good health.
