The Start of Another Week

Happy Monday everyone.  I can hardly believe it's the start of another week.  March zipped right by, and now April seems to be doing the very same thing.  It's nice here today, but the temperature dropped to 28° F over the weekend, and my husband and I were outside early Saturday evening trying to cover our climbing roses with leaf and lawn bags (not an easy task, by the way).  ;)  I'm really looking forward to the David Austin roses blooming,

and I didn't want to take a chance on them in case we had a hard freeze.  They already had a few buds on them, so I hope I'll have flowers before too long.

Last Thursday night, I went by the Michael's store and Friday night by the Barnes and Noble.  Between the two places, I ended up with a nice little stash of spring goodies.

The two spools of "Aria" ribbon came from Michael's, and oh, I love this ribbon.  So pretty and so nice to work with.  The small moss balls also came from Michael's.  The Susan Branch notepad set came from Barnes and Noble.  I had looked at this before Christmas but didn't want to pay that price for it.  Friday night, it was on the bargain table, and I was thrilled.  I got the whole notepad set for $7.98, and the spools of ribbon were only $2.99 each.  Works for me.  :)

I knew I would use the tan check ribbon in our den, but I'm still not sure where I'll use the floral ribbon.  I started not to buy it, but I couldn't resist.  I love it!  It reminds me of English chintz -- a real cottage look.  I'll let you know where it ends up.

I'm spring cleaning our den -- started on it this weekend.  I've already used the check ribbon in here, and it really adds a fresh, spring look.

I hope your week got off to a good start, and I thank you for stopping by House at Forest Manor.  I appreciate every one of your visits!

Denise

  1. You really got some great buys. Love the ribbons and note pads.

Hope your roses survived the cold snap. My roses are going crazy right now with so many blooms and now they are loosing their petals and looks like colored snow.

Have a great week and good luck with your den. I need to start doing my Spring house cleaning.

  8. Love the ribbons, too. I am hoping that we escape hard freezes here as we have fruit trees that I have high hopes will produce fruit. We can expect a hard freeze as late as Mother's Day.
