Progress On The House Part 3

Hello Friends!  Are you having a good week?  For those of you affected by this heat wave, I feel your pain.  We have those here in the south, but at the moment things are not too bad in our part of North Carolina.  I hope you have some cooler temperatures headed your way soon!

I wish I had some prettier pictures of the house at the moment, but I don't.  It's still in the in-between, ugly stages.  The house itself doesn't look so ugly, but everything around it looks rough until we can get some landscaping done.  We won't be doing much landscaping until the rest of the big trees are felled, cut up, and hauled off.  Our tree guy won't be able to get back to us until week after next (most likely).  The rest of the work has to be done with the assistance of a crane operator.  Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but I would never buy another home with so many enormous trees so close to the house.

Progress On The House Part 2

Hi all!!  How has your week been?  Ours is fine, and the weather is gorgeous today.  Lots of work going on here at the moment, and I'm considering going to a hotel for a few days.  ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜œ  We have two men painting today, and all three doors are open (since they are the things being painted).  The breeze is nice, but we have a few bugs now.  There are two tree guys here, and they're using chain saws and wood chipper, and whew!  Oh, and the country music station is being played at a fairly loud volume.  I think I'm going to have to put some cotton in my ears.  ๐Ÿ˜‰  In all seriousness, these men have been just great.  They've been good workers, and so very amenable about what we want done, as well as being courteous, too.

The exterior of the house is looking good now, but there's still a lot of cleanup to do.  I'm so excited now about getting our new roof.  That should be the icing on the cake.  Isn't paint a wonderful thing, though?  Having the doors and all the trim work painted makes everything look clean and new.  It's hard to show that with pictures, though, because all the tools and equipment are still sitting everywhere.  I will share a few photos with you -- try to imagine how things will look when the yard and porch are cleaned up.

Our Kitchen -- Before and After

I noticed yesterday that a post I wrote early in 2012 is now being viewed again.  The post was written at the time that we were just beginning our kitchen remodel, and I showed lots of pics of our kitchen as it used to be for the first 15 years that we lived here.  Then I showed some more pictures of the ongoing renovation, but I've never shown a real kitchen "reveal" since we've completed everything.  That's mainly because we waited about three months to hang anything on the walls because we couldn't stand the thought of messing up that pristine paint job.  :)  By then, we were into the 2012 holiday season, so again, I put off showing the kitchen until after the holidays.  I wanted everything to look perfect for my reveal pictures, so I kept putting off doing the post, and I finally realized that I just need to show you how everything turned out.

*WARNING*  Picture Heavy Post

There are several pictures here (the understatement of the century).  They were taken on different days at different times during the day with two different cameras, so please overlook the fact that the quality of some are not as good as others.
