Autumn 2015

This year it seems the trees have outdone themselves with their changing leaf colors.  I gather that fall is putting on a glorious show all over the U.S. and Canada.

"Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees."~Faith Baldwin, American Family

"The bright summer had passed away, and gorgeous autumn was flinging its rainbow-tints of beauty on hill and dale."~Cornelia L. Tuthill, "Virginia Dare: Or the Colony of Roanoke" 1840

"No spring nor summer's beauty has such grace
As I have seen in one Autumnal face..."~John Donne, "Elegy IX:  The Autumnal"

"To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug."~Helen Keller

"A glorious crown the year puts on"~Phebe A. Holder, "A Song of October"

"The road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
Now far ahead the Road has gone
And I must follow, if I can,"~J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Thank you for visiting and enjoy your day.

  1. Autumn is blazing with color in your region. Colors are more muted here, but still beautiful, although the leaves are falling fast and the trees are looking barer every day. I do love those last lines of Tolkien's that you included.

  2. What gorgeous Autumn photos you've shared, Denise! We do get some color here in Texas, but nothing quite as magnificent as that!!

  3. I think you have had a nicer fall than we have down here--though I realize some of your pictures are from the BRP which is almost always gorgeous. Now we are in a rain mode with more to come. I'm not sure when we last saw the sun. The grass is certainly looking green!

  4. Stunning! Absolutely! And perfectly complemented with those quotes. Our lovely autumn continues here, subdued, but still pretty and still warm!

  6. How stunning, Denise. It sure has been a lovely autumn. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet were sworn in yesterday and it was wonderful to see the crowds of people who came out to greet him, and behind them and him I spied the trees -- gorgeous, especially in Ottawa at this time of year.

  7. Just wishing I could take a trip up your way to see all this beauty. We still haven't gotten much color. I am thankful I can see such beauty as this post and enjoy everyone's pictures.
