Do You Like Classic Cars? -- Part 1

Hi everyone -- I hope you're having a good week.  We're getting some rain off and on here, so that's good.  Everything was definitely looking parched.

Today's post is something totally new for me, and the title pretty well gives it away.  I'm sharing some pictures that my husband has taken over the past few months on Saturday mornings.  Three Saturdays out of every month, he goes to an event called "Cars and Coffee," and the location rotates each week between Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Kernersville.  If you have no interest in cars, you'll probably want to skip this post; I'll try to keep the commentary to a minimum.  ;)  The pictures in this post were all taken at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem.  It was once part of the R. J. Reynolds estate, and the buildings now function as retail shops and restaurants.

There was live music on this particular morning,

and four-legged car enthusiasts were welcome, too.

For starters, this is the prettiest little Alfa Romeo -- yes?

A newer model Alfa Romeo.  By the way, you'll see American made cars, as well as classic foreign cars (both new and vintage).

Here's a newer model Ferrari -- can you see the red horses on the head rests above?

These cars always make me think of Magnum, P.I.  "Higgins, I need to borrow the Ferrari."  ;)

Another Ferrari sporting the famous prancing pony logo on the back.

Then there are the German cars -- a pretty, vintage Mercedes...

and a sportier model.  ;)

A classic Porsche Carrera GT above, and a Porsche Carrera Whale Tail below.  By the way, I identified all these models by myself without asking my husband.  You believe that, right?!  ;>)  mkay.

Porsche Boxsters.

Here's a gorgeous classic Porsche, but we don't know the model.  If you know what it is, feel free to comment.

How do you like this Volkswagen Karmann Ghia?

I have to confess that the old British sports cars are some of my very favorites.  Above is a Jaguar XK-140.  We've seen this car at other car events in our area.

I love, love this pretty Triumph TR4A.

It's just the right size for me.  ;)

Wonderful vintage MG,

I think this is a wonderful old Cadillac.  Love that badge on front,

and the snazzy hood ornament!

The black car above is a 1961 Studebaker Hawk.  I love the swan hood ornament; you can see it above and below.

I like this photo of the front end of a '55 Chevy Bel-Air.

This is an old Ford Model-T that's been turned into a street rod.

No, Duncan didn't get to attend.  We're afraid madness and mayhem would ensue if he was there.  Poor Duncan; he's so misunderstood.  {:p

I hope you enjoyed seeing these awesome cars.  Please forgive my bragging, but Mr. Forest Manor took all these pictures, and I haven't even shown you some of the best ones.  He makes them available online in his Flicker account for the car owners to view and enjoy.  In Part 2, I'll show some more British and Italian sports cars and American muscle cars.  Thanks so much for your visit -- you all are really the best!

Hugs,

Denise

  2. What is it about classic cars? Some of them are like old friends; others are like seeing stars from old movies and TV series. For sheer lines, I must say the Jaguar does it for me. Wonderful shots, Mr FM!

  4. My son goes to the same thing--or similar, except I think his is only one make of a car, don't ask me the name though! We went to our first car show last year in MN. It was great fun, but mostly what I would call old cars--50s and 60s. Of course some were ones I recognized or my dad had owned, so very nostalgic!

  6. Hi Denise. I was reading Cindy's blog and read your comment about the NC Piedmont...well, it caught my eye since I live in the heart of it :) These are some awesome photos of these classic cars. We have never gone to the Dixie Classic...Winston-Salem is about 45 minutes away. Looks like a lot of fun! Enjoy you July 4th weekend!
