Southport, Part Two

Hi folks.  As promised, I'm showing you the rest of the houses we photographed in Southport, NC, this past weekend.  There are so many darling cottages in this town, but we were only able to take pictures of a handful.  You can see photos of more houses in yesterday's post Here.

Next door to the Robert Ruark Inn is this cottage.  I love the scalloped shingles on the gable and the gingerbread trim on the porch -- and let's not forget the white picket fence.  :)

Looks like we have a University of Georgia 'Dawgs' fan here.  ;)

Some of the houses I'm sharing today are bigger than the little cottages from yesterday's post.

I like to show different angles of the houses when I can so you can see the details.  It's all the little details that make these houses so charming.

Just down the street and around the corner from the Robert Ruark Inn is this inn,

I love the table lamp on this front porch.

Are you ready to move here yet?  :)  I don't think it would break my heart to retire here.

These next three houses are beside Captain Newton's Inn.

Doesn't this house have the most unusual roof?  It almost makes the house look like a little church.

How do you like the house number here?  It looks like they've used an old shutter, or part of a shutter, to display the house number.

The last house in this block is The Christmas House.  I found this picture online; I only took a few closeups from the side while I took a little break at one of the outside tables.

The decorations displayed here are fall and Halloween, but this shop has the most wonderful Christmas ornaments and decor at very reasonable prices.

These last two houses I photographed while standing across the street at the old cemetery.

My final post on Southport will be of the old Smithville Burying Ground, circa 1792.  I hope you enjoyed the tour and thanks so much for stopping by!  Do you have a favorite coastal town that you love to visit?
