May Note Card Party

I'm looking forward to joining Vee at A Haven for Vee for her monthly Note Card Party.  This month, I've chosen to use some pictures of churches for my note cards, since I have a lot of them in my previous blog posts.

I love to look at and photograph churches.  I find it so interesting that in the United States, as well as other countries around the world, the churches in each geographical region have their own special architecture.

For my note cards, I chose to use churches from my home state of North Carolina.  The first church is Home Moravian Church in Old Salem, North Carolina.  You can read about Old Salem HERE.  I like this picture because it was taken at the time of evening known as the "blue hour."

The next two churches are located in Highlands, North Carolina, and you'll find them HERE.  The first church is The Episcopal Church of the Incarnation.

Below is the Presbyterian church in Highlands.  I love the dark green trim around the windows and the scrolled hinges on the front doors.

The last church is St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church, located in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.  You can see it HERE in the post I wrote about Jan Karon's Mitford series.

Which note card is your favorite?  Do you prefer wooden, brick, or stone churches?  If you're like me, I think they're all beautiful.

I hope you'll take time to stop by A Haven For Vee to see the other pretty note cards for this month.  Thanks for stopping by; I always enjoy your visits and comments!

  3. It's so nice to visit your blog and see beautiful images of familiar places (I live in your state). I went to your Mitford posts. I never connected that Flat Top Manor might be Sadie's Fernbank!

  4. And I'll be right behind her; I was just reading another blog about this connection to Blowing Rock.

I like them all, I really do. The second one looks more like a church one might see in my corner so I like that one because it looks familiar. The third church is amazing for its nod to tradition though it appears to be new construction or a beautiful renovation. I love stone and brick churches, too. I particularly appreciate the landscaping, too. Lovely and lush.

  5. Hi Denise, I like brick churches with stained glass windows - like the one I grew up in and attended for 21 years! "They just don't build 'em like that anymore." That being said, my favorites of your photos are the first and the last. Very nicely done.

  10. Beautiful choices, Denise.

I think I prefer stone churches because the churches I have ever belonged to were/are made of stone.

  11. Actually, I love them all...I love the beautiful architecture of very ornate churches and cathedrals, but then again, I love the simplicity of a quaint country church....

  14. These are all beautiful, but I would choose #2 as my favorite because it reminds me of the little country churches I see in my area.

  22. They are all so pretty, but I think #2 and #4 are my favorites. I LOVE Blowing Rock and the Mitford series of books. In fact I have a post up now about my recent visit to Blowing Rock.
I really need to get to Highlands one of these days. It looks beautiful there.

  24. I have a real fondness for stone churches, especially like the last photo. That's definitely my favourite, even without the association to the Mitford books. Church steeples are so inspiring.
