The Kitchen at Christmas

I'm pretty sure these will be the last Christmas pictures I make you suffer through share with you this year.  ;)  I hardly ever show my kitchen decorated for Christmas, so here goes.

Mr. Forest Manor was really frustrated with these pictures because he couldn't get the lighting like he wanted it.  I think they turned out fine; it's hard to get good pictures inside this house.  I usually don't do a lot of Christmas decorating in this room -- less is better in our kitchen, I think.  I found the little tree at HomeGoods a few years ago, and I've been using it since we had our kitchen re-modeled.  I used a Christmas kitchen towel for the tree skirt.  Preserved boxwood wreaths hang on the two glass-fronted cabinet doors.

The bowl partially visible to the left of the tree has copper cookie cutters in it.

I found the small, vintage marmalade crock (to the left of the sink) in my parents' attic when I was rummaging through there one day with my mom.  She was glad for me to take it; she didn't even remember that she had it.  The candy canes give it some color for the holidays.

I love these wreaths -- got them online a few years ago.

These are our everyday dishes; they're Churchill "Finlandia Blue."  I've had them for over 20 years now, and I still love them.

On my shelves, I just switched out the regular blue and white dishes for my pink/red castle dishes and added a few bottle brush trees.

The pictures we took after the kitchen remodel look a little stark to me, and I think our kitchen is cozier than those pictures show.

Thanks so much for your visit; I really appreciate your spending some time here.  Do you have snow where you live?  Is it really cold there today?  It's 9:54 p.m. as I type this, and it's 17°F here -- predicted to get down to 3°F later tonight.  Wherever you are, I hope you stay cozy and warm and have a wonderful week!

  4. I think your kitchen looks cozy. In many ways ours are similar, even though I've said goodbye to my yellow walls (I miss them!) I have several Dundee marmalade jars--isn't that what your candy canes are in? Yes I see lots of similarities and have the same small tree, just outside the kitchen door in our den. Stay warm! I think we're going to get spring weather towards the end of the week.

  5. Denise....I so thank you for sharing your lovely kitchen. I LOVE THIS! I have planned to hang boxwood wreaths next year and the manner in which you added them to your china cabinet is SO festive. Touches of Christmas and so uncluttered. Darling!

  12. I love your kitchen! The little Christmas tree is adorable, and I also love the pink/red dishes with the bottle brush trees.

We have plenty of snow here and have had below zero temps this week. Today it has been raining and in the 40s!

  14. Denise, I love your Christmas kitchen. Your cabinets with glass doors look so pretty with the boxwood wreaths. I'm a blue and white nut so you know I love your dishes. Your little tree sets the perfect festive mood. Of course, your shelves with red and white transferware and little cute bottle brush trees are favorites of mine too. Hope your Christmas was wonderful. Happy New Year now.
