The Spirit of Christmas Past

Hi everyone -- I hope you're all well!  Unfortunately, I was sick during the Thanksgiving holiday; I'm mostly better, but still have a little ways to go.  I apologize for once again falling behind on my visits to you, but I will be knocking at your door very soon (strictly in the cyber sense of course).  :)

I had planned to start decorating for Christmas earlier than usual this year, but getting sick put paid to that plan.  Because I'm usually so slow getting my Christmas decorations put out, I have a tradition around this time of year of showing you some images from the previous Christmas.  I don't change things a lot from year to year, but I do tweak things some.  ;)  Here are some pictures to help us get in the decorating spirit; some of these you may have seen, and others I've never shown before.

Our bird house out front got its own little wreath last Christmas.  ;)

Last year, for the first time ever, we were treated to snow at the Christmas tree farm.  It was so pretty.

One of my favorite pictures...

We love our Dickens Village.

and in the spirit of Christmas many years past, I wanted to share this one from our house in Greensboro,

and this house which belonged to my husband's grandparents.  We lived here for a year before we purchased our current home.

Thanks so very much to those of you who sent "Get Well" messages to me.  They mean more than I can express.

Best Wishes for the Advent season!

Denise

  9. Your home looks so warm and wonderful and very beautiful. I am a big fan of cardinals, so I love how you have decorated with them. All of your decorations look traditional and rich. I especially like the red dishes. I have my grandmother's red transfer ware that came form a Montgomery Ward's 1950s catalog. They were made by Homer Laughlin, American subjects from Currier and Ives prints, so each piece is different. It warn, some cracked, chipped and stained, but I love it for it reminds me the very few Christmases that I can remember at my grandma's. Continue to enjoy the season and stay well, now. Hugs

  10. I do hope you are feeling ok now, Denise. Sorry, holidays are a terrible time to get sick.

I love your Christmas photos and they do help get us in the mood. I don't remember the Christmas tablescape with the silver reindeer. I love the red crystal and transferware and the lovely linens. It's very pretty. The electric train around the tree makes me smile and your son as a little boy is so cute.
    Enjoy your decorating.
