Christmas Cheer

Hello friends; I'm so glad you're here.  :-D  Most of the Christmas decorations are up now, but I'm still tweaking things.  Have a look --

We have these quilted covers on the sofa and the new chair (above) to protect them from our little Tasmanian devil.  ;)  I finally bought some birch logs this year, and I'm so glad I did.

This rug doesn't match the other reds on the fireplace, but it does match our sofa really well.  It's a brick red rather than a burgundy red.  We had to put it down because Duncan ruined the carpet there; we'll be replacing it after the first of the year.  The carpet in this room is about 18 years old, so it's time.

We love this string of LED lights we got for the mantel this year.  It's battery-operated, which is what we need because we don't have an outlet at the fireplace.  We looked all over town to no avail for battery-powered LED Christmas lights.  These were six dollars from Amazon, with free shipping.

The plaid ribbon used to hang the wreath on the picture is the same as the ribbon on the outside wreath made by my mom.  I found this half-price at Michaels this year, and it's my new favorite plaid ribbon.

I also love this ribbon worn by the stag above.  It photographs much better than the red, satin ribbon I used last year.

I love this little fuzzy owl and these candles.  They look so much like tree trunks (or stumps) with the realistic-looking "bark."

Same plaid ribbon again...

This was our son's sled when he was growing up.

Well, back to work folks.  I've almost finished writing my Christmas cards; they'll go in the mail tomorrow.  I'm just getting in under the wire.  I hope to show you more decorations soon.  There are two rooms I don't usually show at Christmas, and I'm hoping to show them this year.  I've definitely enjoyed seeing all your Christmas posts and stories of the season.

Wishing you all a joyous week!

Blessings,

Denise

  5. Your home looks simply beautiful, Denise. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. PS - we use battery-powered lights quite a bit - no trailing wires, very flexible - can put them anywhere. We use some external quality ones too - in fact, we've got a line of 'em strung over a climber on the front of the house - but they cost £35! Indoor ones are quite inexpensive.
