Happy Weekend

Hello dear friends!  I can't believe it's Friday, but I sure am glad!  I hope you've all had a good week.  You might have gathered that we were at the coast last week, and it was so nice to get away.  The weather was some of the nicest we've ever had for a whole week, and that in itself was a blessing.

Also, our son was able to drive down after work on Friday night, arriving sometime after midnight.  He brought one of his roommates, and they were with us all day Saturday and Sunday morning.  On Saturday night, we ate dinner here --

and then we watched this when we got back to the house...

I think I was the last person on the planet who hadn't seen this movie, and I laughed until I gave myself a headache.

We returned home Sunday evening and went straight to pick up Mr. Duncan from the pet-sitter's.  He seemed very glad to see us and was totally worn out from all his fun and high jinks while we were away. ;)

I haven't posted this week because I came down with one of the worst sinus infections I've ever had after returning from the beach.  After my second trip to the doctor, I came home with some strong antibiotics (Amoxicillin didn't work) and some cough medicine with codeine.  Today I'm finally feeling half human again.

Lately I've had some different thoughts on blogging, and I'll try to share them when I'm feeling better.  I'm thinking that may not be for a few days yet.  Anyway, I don't say these things often, but I really love writing my blog and I really appreciate and enjoy the blogging friendships I've made.  Sometimes it's hard to believe I've been blogging almost four and a half years; I remember how scary it was to hit that "Publish" button for the very first time.  Then there are other times when I feel like I've been doing this always.  I'm constantly amazed at how many wonderful recipes are shared, beautiful sewing projects, incredible photography, family stories, and inspiring ways to make our house more of a home.  It's also like having a whole lot of pen pals in different parts of the world.

Before I go for the night, I have to tell you we're listening right now to our son and a friend from college, broadcasting their first jazz radio program on the university radio station from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday nights.  Will has been wanting to do this for awhile, and I'm glad he's getting the opportunity.  He sounded so confident and relaxed over the air -- he certainly didn't get that from me.  {:0  I hope it turns out well for him!  Update:  He just gave a shout-out to his parents between songs; both young men did, which I think is really nice.  Love my boy!

I'd really like to try a few new things on my blog, like more recipes and I'd love to feature some of my fellow bloggers, if they'd agree to do that.  It may take me a little bit to get to these things, but I have every intention of doing so.  In the meantime, thanks so much for your visit -- I've made this post longer than I meant to.

Have a terrific weekend and see you soon!

Denise

  3. Well, it sounds like you had a nice time at the coast, Denise, but I'm sorry to hear about the terrible sinus infection. Hope you're feeling lots better by now.
How great about Will broadcasting on the Jazz radio station, and mentioning his parents! I know you're proud of him.
    Happy weekend to you, too.

  5. Hey Denise, I'm so sorry you've been sick. I had that in January--a tough thing to get over. I won't go into my nurse routine but hope you are resting a lot and taking it slow! Nice photos and it sounds like you had a wonderful time away.

  6. Oh my I do hope you are on the mend! I adores all of the images you shared. Wee darling Duncan is growing into a little man. :) So, I'm actually the last person who has never seen The Blues Brothers. I'll have to put it in my queue.
Happy June and have a wonderful weekend.

  8. Hi Denise. I'm so sorry to hear you've been sick but glad you're feeling better. That allergy/sinus business can be a booger. Looks and sounds like you had a wonderful time at the beach and so nice your son could join you. We love that movie and every time it comes on TV we have to watch it again! I know you're so proud of your son. You know what? When I was a teenager I wanted to be a DJ! There weren't any girl DJs out there but that was my goal for a long time. Needless to say, it never happened! :) Little Duncan is so cute. Since we lost our little Chloe Dawn in January we keep thinking about getting another dog and have thought about a little Scottie. I always thought Scotties and Schnauzers looked alike. Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  9. Well a taste of Summer here Denise. Was not expecting that. As to your comments on my blog about the English and gardening. You know I think it is about trial and error and seeing what works and what does not plus hard work at times. No magic formula. Happy New Year to you.
