Old Man Winter

One of my husband's favorite sayings is, "Where's that darn global warming when you need it?"  ;)  Well...he's definitely said that a time or two this week.  Today, we had snow (again) for about an hour -- not long.  It was brief, but pretty; it looked like a snow globe outside our window.

However, the thing I find interesting is the temperature.  It's 7:50 p.m. as I write this, and it's 26° here in the Piedmont region of North Carolina.  Our low tonight is predicted to be 6°.  In addition, we're predicted to have a wind chill factor of -5° to -10° in the Piedmont Triad and Foothills.  The prediction is a wind chill factor of -20° to -30° in our mountains.

We haven't had a lot of snow here this week (one to two inches) but we got a lot of sleet and freezing rain on top of the snow, making everything slick as glass and dangerous to walk and drive on.

Now, earlier this evening the hubs was looking at his iPhone and he saw the weather forecast for Chicago, as in, you know, Illinois.  :)  Their forecast for Thursday is a high temperature of 3° and low of -3°.  Our forecast in the Piedmont North Carolina for Thursday is high of 16° and low of 5°.  That means our low temperature is forecast to be only 8° higher than the low in Chicago...Illinois!!  Wow!  Friday, our forecast is for high 22°, low 2°.  The prediction we saw for Chicago is high of 21° and low of 19°.  Their low will be 17 degrees higher than ours.  Yikes!  Did you follow all that?  Sorry about all the statistics.

I guess the bottom line is that it's cold here and it's going to get colder.  We've been urging Duncan to finish his business outside as quickly as possible.  ;)

I hope you're staying nice and warm this week wherever you are.  Thanks for stopping by!

Denise
