Memorial Day

I've been upset and mad as fire angry for the past week, maybe two weeks -- I'm starting to lose count.  I can't remember when I've been so disgusted with the leadership of our nation.  It's become glaringly obvious that our current administration has very little ethics, scruples, and apparently, no accountability.

While some families are grieving over flag-draped coffins, our federal employees and elected officials have chosen to drape themselves in the Fifth Amendment.

Because I've been so disgusted, and sad, I almost chose not to write a Memorial Day Tribute.  But then I realized that Memorial Day is really about remembering and saying a heartfelt "Thank You."

To all of those who have served or are still serving, you have our prayers and our gratitude.

  2. I guess I don't really know what's going on in the USA. It's important to remember and honour those who have fallen. Happy Memorial Day.

  3. Yes I understand Denise. It's good for a day to focus on something else if I can -- historically our nation has celebrated a unique freedom and because of those who were willing to fight and sacrifice their lives. hope you have a good day today!

  4. Well said. I loved the part about draping themselves in the fifth amendment.
(Um... isn't your refusal to testify incriminating in and of itself?)

But oh how I join you today in grateful respect for those who gave their lives to fight against the enemy from without. I pray to have the courage to fight the one from within.

There. I said it. Not nearly as brave as our brave soldiers, but a stand of my own.

  6. I think that you're in a great big boat with a whole lot of other Americans. It breaks my hear when officials undermine the freedoms that so many of our young men and women die protecting. Cherry Kay

  7. Thank you for sharing your what is in your heart. We are so very much in debt to those who offer their lives to defend and protect for every freedom! The only comment I can to your other thoughts, without a long commentary....Amen.
