HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  Today is Thursday, and this is the first post I've published this week.  I had a couple of ideas in mind for the week, but things didn't work out quite the way I had planned.  I had a terrible headache Monday and Tuesday, my asthma flared up Monday night at bedtime, and I got very little sleep for two nights in a row.  That's more information than you want to know I'm sure.  I don't normally give you the details on my health issues, but I was just so frustrated not to have accomplished more this week.

I plan to link up to the "Be My Valentine" blog party, hosted by Laura at Decor To Adore, so without further ado, I'll share my Valentine's post for today.  I had actually thought to post something different, but I got a special surprise yesterday which called for a change in plans.

My wonderful hubby, aka DH and Mr. Forest Manor, sent me a bouquet of flowers yesterday.  He's been in California this week on business, and I was so surprised and thrilled when these flowers were delivered yesterday.  He used to stop by the grocery store and bring me flowers once or twice a month for a long time.  He's romantic and thoughtful, that husband of mine.  But he rarely sends flowers from the florist, and I don't blame him because it's terribly expensive.  When he does send them, it's just that much more special.

First thing this morning, I took pictures of the flowers.  They're in our living room, and it gets the morning sunlight; I really wanted pictures of those flowers in the morning light.

It was so nice to wake up to blue skies and sunshine this morning, because yesterday was just downright dismal.

I had fun taking pictures of these flowers at different angles and in different positions in the room.  I managed to get some images of the flowers reflected in the mirror that hangs above the sofa.

It was something that I hadn't tried before -- "Fun With Cameras - 101."  :)

I love this combination of Roses, pink and red Carnations, and pale, pink Statis.

The rose fragrance and the delicate, peppermint fragrance of carnations is a wonderful combination.

I don't know about you, but I don't really care for red roses.  Pinks have always been my favorite.  I do like the addition of red carnations, though; it makes for a nice contrast.

I'll be walking through the living room a lot this week because this is a sight that makes me very happy.  Flowers are one of my husband's ways of saying "I love you."

Do you prefer red roses or pink?  Or maybe you like yellow instead?  I hope the sun is shining where you are today.  Even when it's still cold outside, the sunshine helps so much.

  7. Hello Denise
I'm so glad you joined Mary at Little Red House, and I got to read your lovely Valentines post.
Your darling sent you the most beautiful "I Love You" bouquet today.
Flowers say it much better than rich jewels I think!
I love your picture of the flowers reflected in the mirror too!

LOVe is about the little things I think - like holding hands and the special looks, the understanding and the caring, that only a couple understand.

Enjoy your week passing through the living room each day and enjoying your bouquet!
I'm living in sunshine on the other side of the world in New Zealand it's Summertime!

  8. Your hubby certainly did a beautiful job of selecting a bouquet. It's gorgeous and makes me rethink my favorites (yellow). When he finds out how much you've enjoyed them, you may be getting them even more often! ☺
